FALL CAMPUS RETURN

After 18 months of remote learning, UC Riverside returned to mostly in-person instruction at the start of the fall quarter in September. To gear up for the reopening, the campus put in place health and safety measures as well as technological upgrades for the returning campus community. Here’s a look at what’s taken place during the transition:

is the approximate number of students who moved into campus housing for the fall quarter, which returned to full capacity for the first time since the pandemic began and saw a major addition with the opening of the 1,500-bed North District Apartments.

of students returning to campus were fully vaccinated as of early October while the combined campus, including staff and faculty members, was at about a 94% vaccination rate.

classrooms were upgraded over the summer with state-of-the-art audio and video technology to enhance in-person and remote learning as part of the Rooms for Increasing Student Engagement, or RISE, initiative.

was the maximum number of samples from students checking in that were processed by staff per day at UC Riverside’s COVID-19 testing lab, which moved to a larger space at Webber Hall just before move-in weekend. Lab staff tested around 7,000 students in total over five days.
